Upscale 2020 - The pandemic Juxtapose
Speculating the manner of post pandemic social interaction within studio spaces, the design builds on the physical distance, but social unity. The pandemic has forced us to think of social unity while maintaining a safe distance from our peers. Lightweight and movable, the use of the installation would evolve with the uncertain nature of the pandemic. The proposal won the first prize in the annual competition. The competition was carried out in groups of 2 and was constructed and placed in the Australian Institute of Architecture office in Adelaide. The competition involved intensive 2-day design process with mentors from established firms in Adelaide. The allowance for the project was a total of 800AUD. The project uses only 650AUD for making 10 of these seats with 10 more chairs in the future post pandemic.
